Everything Spice Blend With Just 5 Spices!

Spread the love

I’m sure you’ve had a traditional Everything Spice bagel in your many travels. That mixture of onion, salt and garlic with a hint of sesame seeds makes this combination amazing. In fact, Trader Joe’s has made the spice mixture traditionally used on the bagel a daily use blend when they started selling their Everything BUT The Bagel Spice seasoning.

Where can you use this Everything Spice Blend?

This spice blend can be used on well, just about everything to enhance the flavor profile! Here are some of our favorites.

Shake across your avocado toast.

Sprinkle on hard boiled eggs.

Top a baked potato or other steamed vegetables.

On a toasted bagel with cream cheese

MUST DO PREP ITEM:

You need to put this on your weekly prep list because, while it will take you only 10 minutes to put together it will deliver endless possibilities all week long. Simply store the Everything Spice Blend in a mason jar and leave on the counter to be used throughout the week.

What you will need to make the Everything Spice Blend:

Salt flakes

Roasted sesame seeds

Black sesame seeds

Minced onion (dry spice)

Minced garlic (dry spice)

Everything Spice Blend ingredient tip worth it’s weight:

Now keep in mind that you may be tempted to use just plain salt when you see these ingredients, but I encourage you to go the extra step to get salt flakes. Fair warning, salt flakes do cost more than kosher or plain table salt for sure. Most packages cost about $5-$7 each but it will last you forever since this Everything Spice Blend Recipe only calls for 2 teaspoons each use. It’s not likely at your traditional grocery store, so you’ll have to go to a specialty store like Whole Foods, or even order now through Amazon and get it delivered with your other weekly groceries. The effort will be worth the reward trust me!

The difference really comes down to the science of weight of the spices in the ingredients. Due to the similar sized spices, if you use plain salt, it will fall to the bottom of the container you choose and the combination will taste flat. The salt flakes will sit prominently in the spice mixture and add the depth you need to compliment the garlic, onion and sesame seeds.

Let’s get to it!
